About Mater Dei.JPG
Mater Dei Primary School has been educating students since 1917, providing a nurturing school environment where every child experiences learning success and where everyone feels a warm sense of belonging.

Our approach to teaching and learning provides a holistic education offering a balance between social and emotional development and academic excellence.

Learning success stems from a deep understanding of each student while on their journey through the primary years and the goal is that every learner experiences success at school and in life.

Expert teachers focus on teaching students for life in the 21st century and guide them to understand and take charge of their learning. Students are encouraged to be self-reflective and effective problem solvers.

It is through the explicit development of Mater Dei’s successful learner dispositions that students of all abilities learn and grow to achieve their personal best. Leadership qualities are formed in all students, starting with self-leadership that evolves to the leadership of others in the middle years.

We prepare students for the future through integrating technology and digital citizenship lessons and our students thrive outside the classroom with specialist teachers and programs in physical education, swimming, visual arts, drama, music programs and Japanese.

School facilities are fully air-conditioned with modern flexible classrooms and specific learning spaces for visual art, drama, music and Japanese. There are dedicated outdoor play areas for the early, junior and middle years students.  We are blessed with spacious well cared for grounds and a large multipurpose hall.

The school is supported by an advisory School Board, and has an active Parents & Friends Association. Both groups wrap around students and families by participating in various committees, parent information sessions, social events and supporting families in need.

We are strengthened by our connection to the Toowoomba Catholic Schools network of 31 schools in south west Queensland and the support and expertise of the Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office.
